When Dad's Business Trip is in Hawaii...

…you pack your bags and tag along :)

The photography community is pretty closely knit. While we may not always know each other personally, we know each other’s work. If we can’t take a job, we are quick to refer to another trusted photographer. And that’s just how this amazingly sweet and beautiful family ended up in front of my lens during their vacation. Their smiles were big, their enthusiasm bigger, and their shared love for one another the biggest. Mahalo, E family.

O'ahu 'Ohana Sendoff

Fleeing the coop. Spreading his wings. This crew was preparing to say a hui hou to one of their own, Big Brother. At the session, I asked him to share his hopes for the evening, and he simply said, “that mom is happy.” My mama heart melted. High five, parents. He may be leaving the island for some time, but there’s no doubt this fun, energetic ‘ohana will always hold him so close.

Ko Olina Sunrise Session

When you hear leeward or westside of O’ahu, picturesque sunsets probably come to mind before sunrises. But in the morning, the light is just right and the crowds are a distant memory from the prior evening’s sun dipping down beyond the horizon. Well, except for the occasional monk seals in wintertime. The morning is a great time to round-up your crew and head down to the beach with the promise of the gentlest breezes, fewest distractions, and maybe even a delicious hot breakfast afterward. For mainland travelers, the intimidating thought of an early-morning photo session is actually not so bad if you schedule it toward the beginning of your visit. Your body is probably still adjusting to local time, so if you’ll be awake well before sunrise due to the time change, you might as well make the most of it and capture the beauty and memories on camera. Hope to see you soon…maybe bright and early!

A Waimanalo Welcome

Hello, Baby! This (big) little guy and his family spent an evening with us at the beach, and it’s always a bonus when extended family is around. He was wide awake and all in with his first (toe) dip in the ocean. Those sweet grins. Congrats, Mom and Dad!
